About Internet Speed Test
What is this tool?
The Internet Speed Test evaluates download and upload bandwidth of your connection by transferring data with edge servers. Download speed is measured by fetching files from Cloudflare CDN. Upload speed is tested by sending a generated payload to our server. It also measures unloaded and loaded latency, jitter, and packet loss.
How to use
- Click Start Test to begin. Ping is measured first, then download tests ramp up through files from 1 MB to 250 MB (multiple runs per size) until the connection saturates β the same methodology as Cloudflare's speedtest.
- After download completes, upload test begins automatically. It uploads 1 MB chunks for about 4 seconds (up to 128 MB); the wire speed of each chunk is measured independently so the result stays accurate on fast connections.
- Reported download/upload speeds are the 90th percentile of per-request measurements, matching how Cloudflare reports results.
- Results show download speed, upload speed, latency, jitter, packet loss, and per-server breakdown.
Why is it important?
Knowing both download and upload speeds is essential for evaluating your connection quality.
- Download affects streaming, browsing, and loading content.
- Upload affects video calls, file sharing, and live streaming.
- Latency affects real-time applications like gaming and conferencing.
- Jitter & packet loss impact VoIP, online gaming, and video call stability.
